A teen discovers the result of her pregnancy test in our exclusive clip of Eliza Hittman’s “Never Rarely Sometimes Always.” “If it’s positive is there any way it can be negative?” she asks.
Though she’s hoping to hear otherwise, Autumn (Sidney Flanigan) is indeed pregnant. The Sundance-winning pic sees the 17-year-old traveling from her home in rural Pennsylvania to New York City in the hopes of ending the unwanted pregnancy. She’s joined by her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) on the Greyhound journey.
Hittman made her feature debut with 2013’s “It Felt Like Love” and followed it up with 2017’s “Beach Rats.” Her TV directing credits include “13 Reasons Why” and “High Maintenance.”
“Never Rarely Sometimes Always” made its world premiere at Sundance in January. Hittman won a U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Neorealism at the fest. “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” will screen at the Berlinale later this month and make its NY premiere at the Athena Film Festival. You can catch it in theaters March 13.
