Faye Dunaway is returning to Broadway after a 35-year-plus hiatus. The iconic Hollywood star is set to play a fellow legend of the silver screen — Katharine Hepburn. The Oscar winner will portray her in “Tea at Five,” a one-woman play that will chart the groundbreaking actress’ career over a course of a monologue, Variety reports.
Last seen on Broadway in 1982’s “The Curse of the Aching Heart,” Dunaway starred as opera singer Maria Callas in a ’90s touring production of “Master Class.”
Dunaway received Oscar nods for “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Chinatown,” and “Network,” and won for the latter.
A 12-time Oscar nominee, Hepburn took home Oscars for “On Golden Pond,” “The Lion in Winter,” “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” and “Morning Glory.”
A theater hasn’t been announced for “Tea at Five” just yet. This marks the play’s Broadway debut. Kate Mulgrew (“Star Trek: Voyager”) starred in the original 2002 staging.
