FemmePower Productions, a queer femme-led company, is launching a new platform to help meet your “queerantine” needs. A press release announced that FemmePower TV and its lineup of queer content for quarantine will debut at a virtual event this Sunday, May 17. FemmePower TV creator and founder Heather María Ács will host the party with a number of filmmakers and special guests, and introduce audiences to “a stellar program [from] award-winning and underground queer artists.”
FemmePower TV will feature the online debut of “Flu$h,” Ács’ film following a group of queer hustlers and a domination session that takes a turn for the worse. It marks FemmePower Productions’ first pic.
Also among the Queerantine lineup is web series “FQ Chronicles,” a comedy about the lives and loves of four black trans women in Detroit. Supported by the Sundance Institute, the show is created, written, and directed by black trans women, including Ahya Simone and Paige Wood. “Mercy Mistress,” another web series, will be featured as well. Written and created by Yin Q, directed and edited by Amanda Madden, and executive produced by Margaret Cho, the show centers on a Chinese-American dominatrix who “curates the fantasies of others and heals trauma with pain, while contending with the realities of immigrant family life.
“Though there is an abundance of independent queer content, there are few online platforms to showcase this exceptional work. Queer audiences deserve to see themselves reflected and have access to the visionary stories queer artists work tirelessly to produce,” Ács said in a statement. “Marginalized stories/characters have received new levels of attention and there has been an unprecedented clamor for trans and queer actors. However, Hollywood’s curiosity does not guarantee that our stories will be told with respect, accuracy, or care. It is imperative that we control our own narratives, gain access to the resources necessary to tell our stories, and expand current available platforms to reach queer audiences and beyond.”
FemmePower TV’s launch party will kick off here on May 17 at 8 p.m. EST. Check out the full “Queerantine” lineup below, courtesy of FemmePower Productions.
