Former CBS Boss Nina Tassler Working with Liz Tigelaar on Showtime Series

Hachette Book Group

Former CBS Entertainment chair Nina Tassler is developing a series for Showtime, Variety reports.

Less than one year after leaving CBS, Tassler has “The Middlesteins” in the works at Showtime. The half-hour series is based on the book of the same name by Jami Attenberg, who will act as producer. “Life Unexpected” creator Liz Tigelaar will be the showrunner.

“The Middlesteins” is about “a suburban couple who splits up after 30 years, partly because of the wife’s obsession with food. The story carries themes of marriage, family, and obsession.”

But this new series hasn’t been the only project on Tassler’s docket since her departure from CBS. She also published a book, “What I Told My Daughter: Lessons from Leaders On Raising the Next Generation of Empowered Women,” co-authored by Variety’s Cynthia Littleton, which is a collection of essays about raising powerful women written by female leaders.

Tigelaar is currently an executive producer on Hulu’s “Casual” and will keep that gig in addition to joining “The Middlesteins.”
