“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” correspondent Amy Hoggart will soon have her own TBS project. She’ll deconstruct the problems facing Americans by playing a severely underqualified psychologist, Deadline confirms. TBS has given the as-yet untitled show a series order.
“Blending scripted and unscripted segments, each episode of the nonpolitical Untitled Amy Hoggart Project will tackle an issue that makes American lives harder,” the source reveals. “Wounded wannabe psychologist Hoggart will go to ridiculous lengths to focus on such topics as monogamy and polyamory, friendship, and shame — always aiming to make everyone feel just a little bit better.”
Samantha Bee is executive producing the project alongside showrunner Leo Allen (“Nathan for You”).
“I’m so relieved to be finally getting my money’s worth after an expensive and so far useless psychology course,” Hoggart joked. “I’ll be exploring the topics we all have a hard time coping with, learn why we do the insane things we do, and unnecessarily demean myself for laughs.”
Hoggart will continue contributing to “Full Frontal.” The British comedian previously wrote for and co-starred in “Almost Royal,” a reality show spoof following lesser members of the UK’s aristocracy. She also penned and toplined the short film “Bad Dates: Hands of My Soul.” Hoggart’s other on-screen credits include “Crackanory” and “Laughter Shock.”
