Women and Hollywood is joining 11 other women’s film and television organizations, film festivals, media outlets, and production companies at the Toronto International Film Festival to continue their mission of promoting an increased number of women in directing roles.
Together, the 12 groups are proudly co-presenting the Industry Happy Hour with TIFF on Monday, September 12 from 5:30–6:30pm. This Happy Hour will cap an industry day at TIFF that kicks off with a screening and feature panel on Caroline Suh’s “The 4%: Film’s Gender Problem.”
The co-presenters joining Women and Hollywood for the TIFF Industry Happy Hour are: Alliance of Women Directors, Black Women Film, Female Eye Film Festival, Film Fatales Toronto, New York Women in Film & Television, St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, Tangerine Entertainment, Women in Film & Television Atlantic, Women in Film & Television Vancouver, Women in the Director’s Chair (WIDC), Women in View.
“By joining forces as co-presenters of this TIFF Industry event,” the official announcement says, “these respected leaders stand united in their mission to achieve greater numbers of women in the director’s chair and as such, are redefining the landscape of a more diverse, exciting and gender equitable industry.”
The event will take place in the CBC Glenn Gould Atrium, 250 Front St. West, the Industry Happy Hour is open to all accredited press and TIFF Industry pass holders. Join us and be part of the wave #DirectHERs #SeeHerNow.
