Nominations have been announced for this year’s edition of the Irish Film and TV Academy Awards (IFTAs), and Kate Dolan’s feature directorial debut is up for a slew of honors. A modern retelling of dark Irish folklore, “You Are Not My Mother” has received nods in six categories, including Best Film. Another woman-directed pic, Rachel Carey’s “Deadly Cuts,” a dark comedy set in a hair salon, is also in the running for the night’s top honor.
Dolan is the sole woman nominated for Director Film. She’s joined by “Who We Love” co-writer Katie McNeice in the Script Film category.
Three titles directed or co-directed by women are competing for The George Morrison Feature Documentary Award: Alison Millar’s “Lyra,” Kim Bartley’s “Pure Grit,” and Neasa Ní Chianáin and Declan McGrath’s “Young Plato.”
Nominees in the Craft categories include “Belfast’s” Úna Ní Dhonghaíle (Editing) and “An Cailín Ciúin’s” Kate McCullough (Cinematography).
Head over to Deadline to check out the complete list of nominations. TV nominees include Director Drama contenders Hannah Quinn (“Vikings: Valhalla”) and Lisa Mulcahy (“Ridley Road”).
A virtual awards ceremony will be held in March, with a physical gathering in Dublin to follow in April.
