I have always thought that films missed the boat by not figuring out how to get Jennifer Garner a character like the one she played in Alias. I know that Elektra was supposed to be it, but the film stunk (but was infinitely better than Catwoman.)

Garner, to me, is not the superhero type she’s the girl next door who surprisingly kicks ass which is why Alias ruled.

So now it seems that Disney is going to try and get a Garner franchise going again with her playing an updated Miss Marple from Agatha Christie. She is taking some control of her career and will be producing the film through her production company. While I am glad to see a potential female franchise created, it just shows again how little originality there is in Hollywood.

Update: Seems like the deal is not yet done.
