Jessica Chastain to Fight for Gun Control in Redemptive Drama ‘Miss Sloane’

Jessica Chastain will star in the gun-control drama “Miss Sloane,” about a successful lobbyist who gives up her career in exchange for pursuing stricter and safer gun legislation.

The title was acquired by EuropaCorp for a reported $17 million at TIFF late last week after a highly competitive auction.

The “Zero Dark Thirty” star is both vocal and progressive when it comes to issues about diversity in Hollywood, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Chastain used the platform of “Miss Sloane” to join Amy Schumer, Beyonce and Julianne Moore in speaking out in favor of tighter gun policy. As EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert observed, “The film’s subject matter of gun control is an incredibly important issue in today’s world.”

“Miss Sloane” heads into production in March 2016.

Chastain can be seen next in “The Martian,” opening October 2, and “Crimson Peak,” debuting October 16.
