Bleecker Street has landed North American rights to Jocelyn Moorhouse-directed comedy “The Fabulous Four,” starring Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, Megan Mullally, and Sissy Spacek. Deadline confirmed that production is scheduled for early next year in Australia and a nationwide theatrical release is planned. 

The wedding comedy follows three women (Sarandon, Mullally, and Spacek) as they travel to Key West, Florida to be bridesmaids at the surprise nuptials of college friend Marilyn (Midler). “Once there, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past rises up again in all its glory, and there’s enough sparks, drinks and romance to change all their lives in ways they never expected,” the source teases.

Moorhouse penned the script with Ann Marie Allison and Jenna Milly, the screenwriters behind “Golden Arm,” Maureen Bharoocha’s 2020 comedy about a truck driver who helps train her friend for the National Ladies Arm Wrestling Championship.

Sarandon is a five-time Oscar nominee who took home the honor for “Dead Man Walking.” The “Thelma and Louise” actress stars in “Monarch,” a Fox/Hulu country music drama created by Melissa London Hilfers that premiered this September. 

Midler received Oscar nods for “For the Boys” and “The Rose.” The Grammy-winning singer recently reprised her role as Winifred Sanderson in “Hocus Pocus 2,” a sequel to the 1993 family pic about 17th century witches who are resurrected.

“Will & Grace” alumna Megan Mullally, who snagged two Emmys during her tenure on the sitcom, will appear in Chelsea Peretti’s “First Time Female Director,” the story of a woman filmmaker struggling to establish a name for herself.

Spacek earned an Academy Award for “The Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The “Carrie” star has a supporting role in “Sam & Kate,” a family dramedy that hits theaters November 11. 

Moorhouse’s films include “The Dressmaker” and “Proof.” The former made a major splash at the Aussie Oscars. She recently helmed “Savage River,” an Australian crime drama led by “13 Reasons Why” breakout Katherine Langford.
