Jodie Foster will direct her fellow actor-turned-filmmaker, George Clooney, in a media- and money-themed thriller.
In Money Monster, Clooney will play the host of a finance show taken hostage by a man who loses his life savings after following the TV personality’s advice. The man demands that Clooney’s character make the stock he invested in shoot through the roof by the end of the day, otherwise, the TV host will be killed. Whether the latter can successfully manipulate the market remains to be seen; what is certain, however, is that a live-hostage situation makes for must-see TV.
Money Monster will be made for $30 million by TriStar. The film will be Foster’s fourth after Little Man Tate (1991), Home for the Holidays (1995), and The Beaver (2011).
