Following “a competitive auction,” Amazon Studios has scored “Foreign Relations,” a buddy comedy to be directed by Kat Coiro and produced by Elizabeth Banks’ company, Brownstone. Deadline broke the news.
As the source previously reported, Nick Jonas (“Jumanji; The Next Level”) and Glen Powell (“Top Gun: Maverick”) are set to star, but no plot details have been announced just yet.
Jennifer Lopez rom-com “Marry Me” marks Coiro’s most recent project. The film hit theaters and streaming shortly before Valentine’s Day. Her upcoming credits include Marvel show “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” Liane Moriarty film adaptation “The Husband’s Secret,” and episodes of Disney+’s “Spiderwick Chronicles” series. Coiro has also helmed eps of “Dead to Me,” “Girls5eva,” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” among other series.
You can see Elizabeth Banks next as a member of a famed underground abortion collective in “Call Jane.” Phyllis Nagy’s timely historical pic is expected to hit theaters this fall. “Cocaine Bear,” Banks’ third feature as a director, is scheduled for a February 24 release. She’s also producing the true story of a black bear that consumed a duffel bag of cocaine following a drug runner’s plane crash. Banks’ other producing credits include the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, the sophomore effort of which she also directed, “Shrill,” and her 2019 big screen update of “Charlie’s Angels.”
