As we previously reported, 3 female screenwriters, Karen Croner, Veena Sud and Kelly Marcel were in talks to adapt Fifty Shades of Grey. The golden ticket goes to Kelly Marcel for the coveted gig.
Producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are excited to have Marcel on board. In a statement Brunetti noted:
We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly’s engagement with the characters and world EL James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family.
Marcel co-created the Fox show Terra Nova and wrote the currently filming Saving Mr. Banks starring Tom Hannks and Emma Thompson, a script that De Luca praised:
Kelly’s work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks.
Now, the speculation turns to who will be directing the film and of course who will be playing Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
