Kelly Oxford has lined up her next directing gig. The Twitter sensation and two-time New York Times best-selling author made her feature debut with “Pink Skies Ahead,” a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age comedy that was slated to screen at this year’s SXSW before COVID-19 put the brakes on the fest. HBO Max has put spec feature script “Son of a Bitch” into development with Oxford locked in to direct. Deadline broke the news.
Written by Oxford and described as being “in the vein of ‘Bridesmaids,'” “Son of a Bitch” tells the story of a young stoner “who tries to maintain her popular party girl image after she discovers she’s fallen pregnant.”
Oxford is the author of 2013’s “Everything Is Perfect When You’re a Liar” and 2017’s “When You Find Out the World is Against You: And Other Funny Memories About Awful Moments.” She’s set to publish her YA debut, “All the Way,” with Penguin Random House Books for Young Readers.
No word on a new premiere date for “Pink Skies Ahead.” “The End of the F***ing World’s” Jessica Barden stars as a young woman struggling with anxiety disorder.
