Smelly Cat, meet Therapy Dog. “Friends” alumna Lisa Kudrow is set to voice the title character in Fox animated presentation “Therapy Dog.” Deadline confirmed the news.
Penned by Clea DuVall, Jennifer Crittenden, and Gabrielle Allan, “Therapy Dog” tells the story of Honey (Kudrow), “a poodle mix with frizzy hair who has studied Carl Jung and loves tummy rubs,” the source summarizes. “She leads group therapy sessions with the neighborhood animals as they work through issues with their owners and one another. At the same time, Honey tries to find joy in her stagnant marriage to a St. Bernard named Chief and becomes tempted by a wild coyote with a dangerous magnetism.”
DuVall, Crittenden, and Allan are among “Therapy Dog’s” executive producers, as is “Catastrophe” co-creator and star Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford.
Kudrow won an Emmy for her role as folk singer Phoebe Buffay in “Friends.” “Web Therapy” and “The Comeback” are among her other TV credits. She has a supporting role in “Booksmart,” in theaters now. The Olivia Wilde-directed comedy centers on overachieving BFFs who vow to cram four years of fun into one night on the eve of their high school graduation.
