Women and Hollywood spoke with Danish helmer Susanne Bier about her role in bringing one of this year’s most addictive series, “The Night Manager,” to the small-screen. Bier directed all six episodes of the British-American spy thriller, an adaptation of the 1993 John le Carre novel of the same name. Olivia Colman (“Broadchurch”), Tom Hiddleston (“The Avengers”) and Hugh Laurie (“House”) star in the series, which premieres in the U.S. on AMC April 19.
We chatted with the “In a Better World” helmer about why she pursued this gig, how changing one of the lead roles (Colman’s) from a male to female character affected the story and why she’s such a big fan of television at the moment.
