“Nurse Jackie” co-creator Liz Brixius and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” producer Debra Martin Chase are teaming up to tell a story about BFFs with badges. The pair have an untitled female-led police drama in development at NBC, Deadline reports.
The project is penned by Brixius and centers on four LAPD women officers who have been best friends since attending police academy together, and depicts their professional and personal lives.
Back in January ABC put a female ensemble cop drama into development. From writer-EP Pam Veasey, “The Finest” follows five African-American sisters who all serve on the NYPD. The most up to date information we can find about the project is casting news from March.
Gabrielle Union is reprising her role from “Bad Boys 2,” Special Agent Syd Burnett, in “LA’s Finest,” an upcoming cop drama set to air on Charter Communications’ Spectrum cable service. Jessica Alba plays her new partner.
Other projects in the works at NBC include a female-led basketball drama, an adult girl scout comedy, and a mother-daughter FBI drama.
