Marielle Heller and Best Director Awardee Małgorzata Szumowska Among Berlinale 2015 Winners

Female filmmakers from around the globe were recognized for their work at the 2015 Berlinale, including Best Director co-winner Małgorzata Szumowska (“Body”), who tied with Radu Jude (“Aferim!”) for the prize, and recent Sundance fave Marielle Heller (“The Diary of a Teenage Girl”), who collected the Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus International Jury for best feature.

Charlotte Rampling won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her performance in “45 Years,” while Brazilian director Anna Muylaert’s class-conscious comedy “The Second Mother” took home the Panorama Audience Award in the narrative category. Taking second place in the Panorama Audience Award for documentary was Laura Nix, Andy Bichlbaum, Mike Bonanno’s “The Yes Men Are Revolting.”
