Mayim Bialik’s feature directorial debut is heading to theaters and VOD. Quiver Distribution snagged rights to “As They Made Us,” the “Big Bang Theory” actress’ pic about a divorced mother of two who is struggling to balance the demands of her dysfunctional family and her desire to find romance.
Penned by Bialik and starring “Glee’s” Dianna Agron, the dramedy will launch on April 8. Candice Bergen co-stars.
“We are thrilled to be able to share Mayim’s feature film debut with audiences,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents and executive producers Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman. “With a stellar cast in an intelligent and funny film, this relatable family story and Mayim’s touching script will surely hit home with viewers across many generations.”
Bialik added, “As a first-time director, it is nothing short of a dream to write for and direct a cast this accomplished, passionate, and intellectually committed to this film. ‘As They Made Us’ is about a family’s tumultuous and hilarious journey from chaos to serenity. Making one’s first film is also that journey,” said Bialik.
A four-time Emmy nominee for her role as Amy on “The Big Bang Theory,” Bialik’s other credits include “Call Me Kat,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” and her breakout role in “Blossom.” The neuroscience PhD frequently hosts “Jeopardy!” Bialik previously helmed “Thankful,” a 2019 short.
Agron was recently seen in Emma Seligman’s “Shiva Baby.”
