Meaghan Rath is leaving Hawaii’s lush landscape and heading to the courtroom to fulfill a dreaded civic duty. Best known for her role as Officer Tani Rey in CBS’ reboot of “Hawaii Five-0,” Rath has been cast as the lead of “Jury Duty,” a comedy pilot in the works at the network. Deadline confirmed the news.
Hailing from “9JKL” co-creator Dana Klein and Stephanie Darrow, “Jury Duty” is based on a British format and directed by Christine Gernon (“Speechless”). In the potential series, “a group of jurors are sequestered together until they all agree on a verdict….and they can’t even agree on lunch,” the source details.
Klein and Darrow are among “Jury Duty’s” exec producers.
“Hawaii Five-0” is currently in its 10th and final season. “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life,” “Being Human,” and “New Girl” are among Rath’s other credits.
