Nazrin Choudhury will tell the story of an “American Radical” for Universal. The “Fear the Walking Dead” co-executive producer has been hired to pen the film adaptation of memoir “American Radical: Inside the World of an Undercover Muslim FBI Agent” for the studio, Deadline reports.
Universal has optioned the rights to Kevin Maurer and Tamer Elnoury’s 2018 book. It recounts Elnoury’s experiences as “a longtime undercover agent who joined the counter-terrorism unit after Sept. 11, 2001,” per the source. He succeeded in “infiltrating and bringing down a terror cell that was based in United States.”
Rami Malek will star in the pic and reunite with his “Mr. Robot” collaborator, Sam Esmail, who is directing.
Choudhury has previously written for and produced series including “Blood & Treasure,” “Jack Ryan,” and “Houdini and Doyle.”
