Netflix has renewed two of our favorite funny women. As Deadline reports from the TCA’s, Chelsea Handler’s talk show “Chelsea” and Maria Bamford’s comedy “Lady Dynamite” have both been renewed for Season 2.
“Chelsea” currently airs three times a week and has new episodes scheduled through December. Season 2 will return in 2017 with 90 new episodes. As Netflix describes the show, Handler “travels around the world — from Russia, Japan, and Mexico City, across the U.S. and back again, to explore the subjects that matter most to you. ‘Chelsea’ features celebrities, dignitaries, and surprise guests engaging in thought-provoking, yet hilarious conversations about topics like international cultures, alternative lifestyles, education, health, sports, parenting, politics, and more.”
“Lady Dynamite” is a mockumentary-style series based on Bamford’s actual life. Netflix describes it as a “semi-surreal series,” which is “a truthful look at the highs and lows of Bamford’s life — as an actor on the rise, during her hospitalization for bipolar disorder, and through her present life in LA, where she’s reached a middle ground and found love.”
