It’s that tme of the year again. When your favorite shows get cancelled, and shows that you have no idea why they exist get renewed again for another year.
For renewals, one piece of good news is that Scandal created by Shonda Rhimes has gotten a renewal. Other news is that Megan Good will be joining Washington as the second African American female to head a series. Oscar winning writer Callie Khouri comes to TV with Nashville starring Connie Britton (so glad she got her own show) and Twlight scribe Melissa Rosenberg (who worked on Dexter) brings a spy drama Red Widow to ABC.
New shows — There are 39 shows that have been ordered (research from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline) are 12 created by women. CBS continues to skew male iwth only one show by a woman, and the CW wins the record for most female created shows with over 50% of their order being created by women.
As the season gets closer we will also take a look at the new shows by women.

Infamous — Liz Heldens
An opulent soap in which a female detective (Meagan Good) returns undercover to the wealthy family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend.
The New Normal — Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler
Andrew Rannells (Book of Mormon) stars in this heartwarming blended family comedy about a gay couple and the young woman who becomes their surrogate.
Fox — 5 news shows, 2 by women
Ben & Kate — Dana Fox
The Mindy Project — Mindy Kaling
The Office standout as a Young Bridget-Jones type doctor trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives.
ABC — 10 new shows, 4 are by women
How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life — Claudia Lonow Sarah Chalke stars as Polly, a recently divorced single mom who moves in with her eccentric parents, Elaine (Elizabeth Perkins) and Max (Brad Garrett), a couple who are full of life but know no bounds.
Nashville — Callie Khouri, RJ Cutler
A family soap set against the backdrop of the Nashville music scene that follows one star at her peak and one on the rise.
Mistresses — KJ Seinberg — based on the British show
Red Widow — Melissa Rosenberg
Based on the Dutch format, Red Widow centers on the widow of an assassinated criminal who is forced to adopt her husband’s role in a crime syndicate in order to protect her family.

The Carrie Diaries — Amy Harris
Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, a young Carrie Bradshaw comes of age in the 1980s, asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.
Beauty and the Beast — Jennifer Levin, Sherri Cooper
Loosely based on the CBS’s Beauty and the Beast series from the 1980s, this is a modern day romantic love story with a procedural twist.
First Cut — Jennie Snyder Urman
Glad to leave her nerdy past behind for a fresh start in the adult professional world, a newly minted doctor discovers that, sadly and comically, life at the hospital where she works is no different than high school.
