In honor of the late, great Nora Ephron, the Tribeca Film Festival has created a new award after the writer/director, The Nora Ephron Prize. The $25,000 prize supported by Vogue.com will recognize a female writer or director who embodies Ephron’s spirit.
Tribeca Film Festival co-founder, Jane Rosenthal announced on the new award.
Nora Ephron’s work influenced screenwriters, filmmakers and movie goers. She was a great friend to the Festival since its inception, and I had the privilege to know her and be in absolute awe of her. She did it all brilliantly, with wit and wisdom that went straight to the heart.
The award will be given annually to a woman filmmaker whose film is making it’s North American, International or World debut at the festival. The award will be given on April 25 at the Women’s Filmmaker Brunch by Jane Rosenthal and Vogue creative digital director, Sally Singer.
There are eight films eligible for the prize this year:
Laurie Collyer, Sunlight Jr.
Steph Green, Run and Jump
Jenee LaMarque, The Pretty One
Meera Menon, Farah Goes Bang
Mo Ogrodnik, Deep Powder
Marina de Van, Dark Touch
