Looking for a holiday gift for an awesome feminist film lover in your life? Need something to look forward to? (Of course you do.) We have good news: all-access passes are now available for the 11th annual Athena Film Festival for the early bird price of $75. Launched in 2009 by Women and Hollywood Founder and Publisher Melissa Silverstein and Kathryn Kolbert, the fest dedicated to celebrating women leaders will be held virtually throughout March 2021, in honor of Women’s History Month.
This year, Athena is curating films around specific topic areas that react and respond to this moment, such as racial justice, public health, and radical self-love. Attendees will get to see shorts, features, and documentaries speaking to the complexities of these topics and others as well as participate in conversations that bring these vital subjects beyond the screen and into our everyday lives. “This March, we will join together to think deeply about our world and celebrate the stories of women who are seizing this moment in time as an opportunity for radical change,” a press release from the fest details.
Along with its film programming, the festival will host panel conversations, Q&A sessions with creatives, and events focused on celebrating and amplifying the stories of bold, courageous women leaders.
Passholders can explore all Athena films and virtual programs. They will also have access to exclusive behind-the-scenes events featuring festival programmers and select filmmakers.
