Emmy-winning “SNL” writer Paula Pell and her frequent collaborator Michelle Lawler are developing a HBO comedy.
The untitled series will center on a disgraced Olympic figure skater who returns home to Massachusetts, where she confronts the two people who most benefited from her success: her self-absorbed mother and her bullying coach.
Pell and Sue Naegle will executive produce, while Lawler will co-EP.
Pell wrote for “Saturday Night Live” for two decades and served as head writer for the sketch series. She also penned “Sisters,” the upcoming comedy with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
Lawler is best known as a cinematographer.
