“Killing Eve” is up for a major honor stateside. The BBC America spy thriller dominates this year’s BAFTA TV nominations, and now word comes that the Sandra Oh-starrer is in the running for a Peabody.
The Peabody Awards has announced its 60 nominees for the most powerful and compelling stories released in 2018. Nominees are being recognized in the worlds of TV, radio, and digital media. Thirty winners will be selected from the nominees, and the honorees will be celebrated at the 78th annual Peabody Awards ceremony, set to take place May 18 in New York.
Besides “Killing Eve,” other notable nominees in the Entertainment category include “Hannah Gadsby: Nanette,” a Netflix stand-up special that sees Australian comic Gadsby addressing homophobia, sexism, and the very nature of comedy, and “The Chi,” Lena Waithe’s Chicago-set coming-of-age series on Showtime.
Among the titles in the running in the Documentary category is Trish Adlesic and Geeta Gandbhir’s “I Am Evidence,” an investigation into how police departments in the U.S. handle sexual assault cases. Also earning a spot on the list is Sandi Tan’s “Shirkers,” which sees Tan exploring the mysterious history of a film she made as a teen.
