Producer Justine Nagan to Head American Documentaries at PBS’s ‘POV’

After a decade at Chicago’s Kartemquin Films, director/producer Justine Nagan will serve as the next executive director of American Documentary, Inc., as well as the executive producer of PBS’s “POV” series.

Nagan’s producing credits include “Life Itself,” “The
Interrupters” and “The Trials of Muhammad Ali.” She is also the director of the award-winning documentary “Typeface,” about typography and graphic design. Nagan was named the Kartemquin’s executive director in 2008.

At “POV,” she will oversee production, programming, community engagement, fundraising, and digital outreach. Nagan will also executive produce the WORLD Channel’s “America ReFramed,” a year-round showcase of indie docs about American life.

She will begin part-time in September and assume full-time duties upon relocation to New York in December.
