The triumphs and tragedies of the Bordelons will continue to unfold on OWN beginning June 12. Mark your calendars: that’s when the Ava DuVernay-created family drama returns for its fourth season. As is the case with previous seasons of series, every episode of Season 4 is being directed by a woman. Deadline confirmed this season’s roster of directors and its premiere date.

Season 4 sees the Bordelons “continuing their fight to save their family farm and preserve their father’s legacy as they navigate their own personal journeys,” according to the show’s official synopsis. “Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) remains in the thick of the trials and tribulations in both her personal and professional life as she continues to battle the Landry family while also trying to ensure Micah’s (Nicholas Ashe) safety and future. Nova (Rutina Wesley) publishes her memoir and while she goes on a book tour around the country sharing her family secrets and shaking things up at home, she unexpectedly encounters significant relationships from her past along the way. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) is managing fatherhood and his complicated relationship with ex-girlfriend Darla (Bianca Lawson) after learning he is not the biological father of his son, Blue (Ethan Hutchison), and is encouraged by an old friend to create opportunities for formerly incarcerated men.”

Among this year’s helmers is “Watermelon Woman” writer-director Cheryl Dunye, who will also serve as producing director. Dunye directed an episode of “Queen Sugar’s” second season. This season’s directing lineup also includes Carmen Marrón (“Go For It”), Numa Perrier (“Jezebel”), Heidi Saman (“Namour”), Bola Ogun (“Are We Good Parents”), and Tchaiko Omawale (“Solace”).

DuVernay made history with her last feature, 2018’s “A Wrinkle in Time.” The adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved sci-fi/fantasy novel marked the first feature directed by a woman of color with a budget over $100 million. Her upcoming projects include comic book pic “The New Gods” and a Netflix miniseries about the Central Park Five. The latter, “When They See Us,” premieres May 31.
