Reese Witherspoon is Starting a New Female-Driven Company

Reese Witherspoon in “Wild”

Reese Witherspoon has started a new company, Deadline reports. She’s teamed up with Otter Media to start Hello Sunshine, a company that will focus on telling female-driven stories across all platforms. As Deadline writes, this will include “not only film and TV but also daily social and short-form digital content. To that end, Hello Sunshine starts launching content in 2017 at Hello-Sunshine.com.”

Kerry Tucker has been named CEO of the company. She joins Witherspoon from The Video Genome Project, where she “built and managed the strategy and operations as COO, and served as one of the principal architects of its sale to Hulu.”

“Reese is a phenomenal partner with a unique sensibility,” said Otter Media president Sarah Harden, “and together with Kerry, who has championed women’s voices throughout her career, we are excited to launch a company that is anchored in the ambitious vision of reflecting and inspiring women everywhere. We look forward to producing content that resonates deeply with our community in all formats, and through all channels.”

Back in September, Deadline announced that Witherspoon and her fellow Pacific Standard producing partner, Bruna Papandrea, were ending their working relationship. Together, the duo produced “Gone Girl,” “Wild,” and “Hot Pursuit.” Witherspoon is maintaining control of Pacific Standard, while Papandrea is moving on, but the two will still work together through projects that were already in the works, such as “Luckiest Girl Alive,” “All is Not Forgotten,” and “Ashley’s War.”
