Sandra Oh’s latest will see her dealing with overworked grad students, funding crises, and office politics. Best known for her roles as a surgeon on “Grey’s Anatomy” and an MI5 agent on “Killing Eve,” Sandra Oh is adding academic to her list of fictional careers. Deadline reports that the Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee is set to topline “The Chair,” an upcoming Netflix dramedy about the chair of an English department at a major university.
Amanda Peet co-created the six-episode half-hour project and will serve as showrunner. She co-wrote the pilot alongside Annie Julia Wyman.
“The Chair” marks Peet’s first major behind-the-scenes credit. As an actress, her credits include “Brockmire,” “Togetherness,” “The Good Wife,” “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” and”The Whole Nine Yards,” among many others. She stars in the next season of anthology series “Dirty John.” Season 2 will air on USA Network with a premiere date TBA. In 2018 Peet’s play “Our Very Own Carlin McCullough” debuted at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood.
Oh will reprise her role as Eve Polastri in “Killing Eve’s” upcoming third season, set to premiere on BBC America April 26. She’s received Golden Globe, SAG, and Critic’s Choice awards for her acting in the series, as well as two Emmy nods. The “Grey’s Anatomy” alumna is a co-exec producer on the spy thriller.
