Sarah Jessica Parker’s showing off her vocal chops in “Here And Now.” The “Sex and the City” alumna plays a singer-songwriter in the pic, which just secured distribution. AMBI Distribution and Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions have teamed up to acquire the film, a press release announced. A theatrical release is planned for November 9 via AMBI, and Paramount is handling the film’s digital and VOD release that same day.
Formerly titled “Blue Night,” the drama follows Vivienne, a successful New York City-based musician. After receiving life-changing news, she travels around the city juggling music, family, and friends, and reflecting on her successes and failures. Laura Eason (“House of Cards”) penned the script.
Common, Jacqueline Bisset, and Renée Zellweger co-star.
“Here And Now” premiered at Tribeca this year, where a number of critics compared its storyline and format to Agnès Varda’s 1962 classic “Cléo from 5 to 7.”
“Sarah Jessica Parker, [producer] Alison Benson, and I fought so hard to bring ‘Here and Now’ to life because we all believed in the truth and depth of Vivienne and the characters around her,” said director Fabien Constant. “Drawing such a brutally honest portrait of a modern woman was a challenge that we happily took on full of passion and energy.”
Parker stars in the HBO comedy “Divorce,” the second season of which wrapped up earlier this year. No word on whether it will be returning for a third run or not.
