Schuyler Helford previously created the web series “Cybriety” and “Indoorsy,” and now she has a network show in the works. Her multi-cam comedy about teen parents, “Unplanned in Akron,” has received a pilot order at CBS, Deadline reports.
“‘Unplanned in Akron’ is a series about two teenagers navigating parenthood in the best way they know how,” the source teases. “With a little help from their friends and parents, they’ll learn that mistakes in life don’t have to derail your life — they will learn that no matter what age you are, taking care of a child is no joke — but sometimes, you just gotta laugh (or cry) your way through it.”
Helford wrote and co-executive produces the project, which hails from Picturestart and CBS Studios. EPs include Emily R. Wilson (“The Conners”) and Picturestart’s Samie Kim Falvey.
Helford wrote for CBS’ 2017 Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase, and wrote, directed, and starred in the short film “Edited.” She also starred in “Cybriety” and “Indoorsy,” and counts “Call Me Kat” and “Haunt” among her other on-screen credits.
