STARZ, WrapWomen, and Women in Film are accepting submissions for the Telling Our Stories (TOS) film competition. The contest, which showcases short films from women and gender non-conforming filmmakers of color, will see six finalists receiving distribution on STARZ, being recognized at WrapWomen’s Power Women Summit, and competing for the top $10,000 prize.
Submissions will be open through October 29.
“Designed to elevate short films by female filmmakers of color, narrative or documentary, the TOS contest highlights themes relevant to womanhood, community, and representation,” a press release announced.
Eligible shorts must be 10 minutes or less. It’s fine if a submission has previously screened at film festivals, but it is ineligible if it has already received distribution or screened on U.S. network or cable television. Foreign language projects will be accepted, but they must be subtitled in English.
Finalists will be notified by December 1. The winner will be announced at the Power Women Summit, which is being held virtually December 8-10.
Head over to TOS’ website to learn more about the competition. Shorts can be submitted via FilmFreeway.
