Taraji P. Henson has her next movie role lined up. According to Deadline, Henson is set to star in “Proud Mary,” for Screen Gems. She’s previously acted for the company in “No Good Deed” and the two “Think Like a Man” movies. Production on “Proud Mary” is set to begin in April in Boston.
Henson will play “a hit woman whose life is turned completely around when she meets a young boy who awakens in her a maternal instinct she never knew she had.”
Henson currently stars on Fox’s hit series “Empire,” which was recently renewed for a fourth season by the network. She’s also starring in this season’s awards contender, “Hidden Figures,” which tells the untold story of the black women who worked at NASA during the space race of the 1960s.
Henson has been nominated for multiple awards, including an Academy Award nomination for her supporting role in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” plus three Emmy noms for her work on “Empire.” She won her first Golden Globe for “Empire” at last year’s ceremony. There’s potential for her to nab another Oscar nod this year for her role in “Hidden Figures.”
