“Think Like a Man” and “What Men Want” star Taraji P. Henson is ready to “Tell it Like a Woman.” The Oscar-nominated actress has been tapped to direct a segment of Iervolino Entertainment’s anthology project, Variety reports.

Titled “Pepcy & Kim,” Henson’s segment is penned by “Thirteen” writer-director and “Twilight” helmer Catherine Hardwicke and inspired by the true story of Kim Carter. It tells the story of the “former addict who has used her story and her nonprofit, the Time for Change Foundation, to help homeless women and children break the cycle and reclaim their lives,” the source details. “Dreamgirls” breakout and Oscar nominee Jennifer Hudson stars alongside “Genius: Aretha’s” Pauletta Washington.

Comprised of seven segments that make one “intertwining” feature film, “Tell it Like a Woman” is by and about women. The anthology was formerly titled “Women’s Stories.” Other women directors stepping behind the camera for the project include Hardwicke and “Parched” filmmaker Leena Yadav.

“The talents of Taraji, Jennifer, and Pauletta are awe-inspiring and on full display in their adaptation of the amazing Kim Carter story,” said Iervolino Entertainment founder Andrea Iervolino. “This trio is a marvelous compliment to the spirited filmmakers and talent banding together for this one-of-a-kind film, and their sincerity in delivering a ‘must see’ segment is simply moving. We can’t wait to show this film to the world.”

Henson previously directed an episode of “Empire,” which she starred in from 2015-2020. She received two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Cookie Lyon in the musical drama. She also landed an Emmy nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for “Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.”

Last year Henson signed to to make her feature directorial debut, high school comedy “Two-Faced.”

“Two-Faced” centers on Joy, “whose chances to attend the college of her dreams are threatened by her wildly popular and charismatic school principal after she confronts him with evidence of his racist past. With the help of her friends, the student sets out to expose the principal but quickly learns that he is not above waging all-out-war against the students trying to take him down,” the source teases.
