“We are not in ‘Snow White.’ We are in fucking ‘Scarface!'” says Christina Applegate in a new teaser for “Dead to Me.” The dark comedy’s second season hits Netflix May 8 and sees Jen (Applegate, “Samantha Who?”) and Judy (Linda Cardellini, “Bloodline”) in hot water.
Brought together by grief, the unlikely friends are now also seemingly bound by murder and cover-up. The show’s freshman season concluded with Judy’s ex Steve (James Marsden), who was largely responsible for the hit and run that killed Jen’s husband, floating lifeless in the widow’s pool.
Judy is, as always, trying to put a positive spin on things, while Jen is baffled by how she could possibly be optimistic in a time like this. The pair are desperate to keep their secrets hidden, but with a “surprising new visitor in town and Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) hot on their heels,” they’ll need to take “drastic measures to protect their loved ones and each other — no matter the cost,” Netflix hints.
Applegate received Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG noms for “Dead to Me’s” first season. Liz Feldman created the series.
