A teaser has dropped for the long-awaited remake of “Suspiria.” At just over a minute-and-a-half, the spot features absolutely no dialogue and is sparse on plot, but it’s incredibly atmospheric and creepy as hell.
Set in 1970s Berlin, the pic stars “Fifty Shades of Grey’s” Dakota Johnson as an American who joins a prestigious dance company. She and its artistic director (Tilda Swinton) and a grieving psychotherapist (Lutz Ebersdorf) “become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare,” according to the film’s official synopsis.
The first footage from “Suspiria” was unveiled at CinemaCon in April. Audience response was overwhelmingly positive, with many emphasizing the clip’s graphic, brutal violence. The teaser, on the other hand, leaves much to the imagination. This footage isn’t gory — for the most part — but it’s certainly dread-inducing. We see snippets of eerie happenings, including a sign for a missing person, a sheet over a bloody body, and someone levitating.
“Suspiria” is slated for release November 2. The film re-teams Johnson with her “A Bigger Splash” director Luca Guadagnino, who most recently helmed “Call Me by Your Name.”
