Elisabeth Moss squares off against Yvonne Strahovski in a new teaser for “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The dystopian drama’s upcoming fifth season will mark its first since Roe v. Wade was overturned, making Gilead and its horrors all the more chilling.
As June (Moss) faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford, she remains fixated on Serena (Strahovski). “You just gotta forget about her,” Luke (O-T Fagbenle) insists. But June can’t. She’s disgusted to see her former tormentor playing “the grieving wife” while “she knows the world is watching.” June confesses, “I feel Gilead pulling me back.”
According to a synopsis from Hulu, this season will see Serena attempting “to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence [Bradley Whitford] works with Nick [Max Minghella] and Aunt Lydia [Ann Dowd] as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira [Samira Wiley] fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah [Jordana Blake].”
“The Handmaid’s Tale” returns to Hulu September 14.
