Jennifer Aniston finds herself in the hot seat in a new teaser for “The Morning Show’s” second season, which sees Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) reckoning with their decision to go public about UBA’s toxic, misogynistic work environment. “There’s been a lot written about ‘The Morning Show’ and a lust for ratings that made even the worst behavior permissible. Do you feel that the important issues have been addressed?” a reporter (Julianna Margulies) asks Alex.
The spot for the Apple TV+ drama reveals that Alex has decided to publicly leave “The Morning Show,” and despite producers’ pleas for her to return, she insists that she’s “not coming back.”
Bradley seems to feel betrayed by Alex’s departure. “I thought we were a team,” she says.
“The Morning Show’s” debut season received eight Emmy nominations, including Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Aniston and Directing for a Drama Series for Mimi Leder.
Aniston won an Emmy for her iconic role as Rachel on “Friends.” “Murder Mystery” and “Dumplin'” are among her more recent credits.
A two-time Oscar nominee, Witherspoon landed nods for “Wild” and “Walk the Line” and won the honor for the latter. Her small screen credits include “Big Little Lies” and “Little Fires Everywhere.”
“The Morning Show’s” second season kicks off September 17. Kerry Ehrin (“Bates Motel”) returns as showrunner. Ehrin, Aniston, Witherspoon, and Leder are among the show’s exec producers.
