A new HBO documentary sees the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll reflecting on her roots and her celebrated discography. A teaser has dropped for “Tina,” an intimate portrait of Tina Turner that explores the chart-topping singer’s personal and professional triumphs and tragedies.
The spot kicks off with Turner revisiting the impact her mother’s abandonment had on her. “I wanted her to come for me,” she explains, “and I waited. She never did, and it’s alright. You know why? I’m a girl from a cotton field that pulled myself above the destruction and the mistakes,” the eight-time Grammy winner says.
Turner’s many hits include “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “Private Dancer.” She’s sold over 100 million records.
“Tina” debuts on HBO March 27.
