The Future of Film Is Female Announces Spring 2021 Grant Recipients

The Spring 2021 grantees: The Future of Film Is Female

The Future of Film Is Female (FOFIF) has awarded its latest round of funding. The org, which supports female filmmakers with financial support, exhibition, and promotion, presented Spring 2021 grants to five women-made short films, a press release announced.

The Pre-Production Financial Grant went to Alessandra Lacorazza and Justine LaViolette’s “The Boat” and A.K. Espada’s “I Could Die and Everything Would Be All Right.” The former is a comedy that follows two queer sisters taking a trip on a sailboat, and the latter is a “semi-autobiographical suburban fairy tale” look at mental illness.

Natalie Jasmine Harris received the Abel-Cine Equipment Certificate for “Grace,” the story of a teen in the 1950s South who is preparing for her baptism while navigating her romantic feelings for a female friend.

Alexandra Pechman and Fabiànne Therese Gstöttenmayr are the Spring 2021 post-production grantees. Pechman was awarded the Nice Shoes (Color Services) Post-Production Grant for “Sleep,” a horror story inspired by her own experiences. Gstöttenmayr received the Heard City (Sound Editing and Mixing) Post-Production Grant for “Obsessed,” which sees a lonely young woman trying to connect with her hacker.

Head over to FOFIF’s website to find out more about the the grantees and their projects.
