The horrors of Gilead will continue. “The Handmaid’s Tale,” reportedly “the most watched show, original or acquired,” on Hulu, is getting a fourth season, Variety reports. The show’s third season currently airs on Wednesdays.
Based on the classic Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, the series takes place in the fictional dystopian totalitarian regime of Gilead. “The Handmaid’s Tale” took home an Emmy for best drama in 2017. Stars Elisabeth Moss, Ann Dowd, Alexis Bledel, and Samira Wiley have also won Emmys for their performances.
Moss, who is also an exec producer on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” stars in the upcoming film “The Kitchen,” centering on three women who take over their incarcerated husbands’ criminal enterprises. The Andrea Berloff-directed feature hits theaters August 9.
