Veena Sud is scripting Broad Green Pictures’ remake of German thriller “We Monsters.”
The original film premiered at TIFF last year, and tells the blood-curdling story of a young girl who, unhinged by her parents’ separation, commits an unthinkable crime — which her mother and father then take it upon themselves to conceal.
Sud is no stranger to remaking a thriller, having developed, written and executive-produced AMC’s “The Killing” — itself an adaptation of Danish murder mystery “Forbrydelsen.” She received an Emmy nomination for her work on the series.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be partnered with Broad Green Pictures to tell this dark, intimate and deeply poignant story about an American family,” Sud said.
Head of Creative Affairs at Broad Green, Alix Madigan — who was responsible for a host of highly successful films during her career as a producer, including Debra Granik’s “Winter’s Bone” — and Creative Executive Shary Shirazi will be overseeing the project.
