“The Power of the Dog” Leads Chicago Film Critics Association Awards

"The Power of the Dog": Netflix

“The Power of the Dog” is as strong as ever. The AFI Awards honoree leads the Chicago Film Critics Association 2021 Awards. Jane Campion’s Western psychodrama took in a total of seven honors including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. A press release confirmed the news.

Set on a Montana cattle ranch in the 1920s, “The Power of the Dog” sees tensions between two brothers escalating when one of them secretly marries a local widow. The Netflix pic marks Campion’s first feature in over a decade.

Other Chicago Film Critics Award winners include Kristen Stewart and Ruth Negga. The former was honored for her starring role as Princess Diana in “Spencer” and the latter for her supporting turn in “Passing,” Rebecca Hall’s feature directorial debut.
