Tiffany Haddish is joining another comic adaptation. The Emmy winner is following up “The Kitchen” with “Mystery Girl,” a Netflix feature adaptation of the Dark House comic of the same name. She’s set to topline and produce the pic under her She Ready Productions label. Deadline broke the news.
Set in Los Angeles, “Mystery Girl” tells the story of Trine (Haddish), a street psychic who has been living off the grid. She “has no memory of who she is or where she came from but is guided by an omniscient VOICE in her head that knows everyone’s business and everyone’s darkest secrets. When a down on his luck LAPD officer, Cooper, seeks out Trine in hopes that she’ll help him crack a case, the two are framed for murder and must work together to clear their names and solve the ultimate mystery: the one behind Mystery Girl herself,” the source teases.
Haddish won an Emmy in 2018 for hosting “Saturday Night Live.” “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker” and “Like a Boss” are among the “Girls Trip” breakout’s recent credits. Her upcoming slate includes “Here Today,” a comedy about an unlikely friendship between a comedy writer and a New York street singer, and Season 2 of animated comedy “Tuca & Bertie,” which is switching homes from Netflix to Adult Swim.
