Tiffany Haddish has managed to pencil in yet another project. The “Girls Trip” breakout will star in “Limited Partners,” a comedy about platonic life partners scheduled to kick off production in October. Deadline reports that Paramount bought the pitch for her last October.
Described as being in the vein of “Bridesmaids” and “Superbad,” the comedy tells the story of two girlfriends who build a company together. When the pair receive a big buyout offer, “all the differences that made them perfect odd couple partners put them at war, threatening their business and personal relationships,” according to the source.
Miguel Arteta (“Beatriz at Dinner”) will direct the pic.
Haddish has been seriously in-demand since her scene-stealing turn in box office hit “Girls Trip.” Her upcoming big screen gigs include “Night School,” a GED exam comedy that reunites her with “Girls Trip” director Malcolm D. Lee, catfish comedy “Nobody’s Fool,” and Andrea Berloff’s “The Kitchen,” a crime drama that co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss.
In January Haddish signed a first-look deal with HBO. She’ll exec produce “Unsubscribed” for the premium cable network, an exploration of female blackness, beauty, and identity. She currently stars alongside Tracy Morgan on “The Last O.G.,” a TBS comedy about an ex con that’s now in production for Season 2. The stand-up is also signed on to voice the lead character in “Tuca & Bertie,” an upcoming animated Netflix series.
Just for Laughs just announced Haddish as the recipient of their Comedy Person of the Year award.
