Trailer Watch: “AbFab” Ladies Kill Kate Moss and Flee to France

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley in “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie”: Fox Searchlight

Edina (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) are coming to the big screen, and now a full-length trailer has been released giving us an idea of what to expect from the tremendously entertaining twosome in “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.”

For the uninitiated: “Absolutely Fabulous” was a BBC sitcom — created by Saunders — that premiered in 1992 and aired for three seasons. But thanks to popular demand a revival of the series was launched, running from 2001 to 2004. The last time we caught up with the lovable trainwrecks was an anniversary special that aired in 2012.

In the clip for their theatrical adventure, Edina and Patsy discover that Kate Moss is changing her PR, and resolve to make her their client — whatever the cost. The pair go to London’s biggest fashion event of the year to woo the supermodel. But, as is usually the case with these two, things don’t go quite as planned: They accidentally push Moss off a balcony into the waters below. “You have killed Kate Moss,” they’re told. Their succinct reply? “Shit!”

The trailer sees the women flee to France, where “everyone’s a criminal,” and get up to more hi jinks, including crashing a “late-night lesbo party” on a yacht.

The comedy is directed by Mandie Fletcher, who helmed three episodes of the “Ab Fab” revival in the early aughts. Saunders penned the script.

“Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” hits theaters in the U.K. July 1 and the U.S. July 22.
