Trailer Watch: Aidy Bryant Is Dealing With Work Drama & Juggling Boys in Season 3 of “Shrill”

"Shrill": Hulu

Aidy Bryant is on the prowl in “Shrill’s” third and final season. A new trailer for the Hulu comedy sees Annie (Bryant) hitting the dating scene after her breakup with Ryan (Luka Jones). Advised to have a “main guy” and “other tasting pots,” the journalist finds herself “juggling a lot of nasty boys.”

Annie is also keeping busy at The Thorn, where cutbacks are putting major stress on the staff. When Annie expresses her desire to “write something different,” she’s offered the opportunity to profile a “crazy cowboy family” described as “separatist, racist whack jobs.” The resulting article leads to Annie getting cancelled.

Fran’s (Lolly Adefope) relationship with her partner, Em (E.R. Fightmaster), is getting more serious, and causing her to question the dynamics of her friendship with Annie. “Do you think we use each other as a crutch to not move on?” she asks her BFF.

“Shrill” is based on Lindy West’s book of the same name. Ali Rushfield (“Parks and Recreation”) serves as showrunner. The series returns to Hulu May 7. Check out the trailer to see Annie give a piece of her mind to a doctor who recommends she get gastric bypass surgery.
