Trailer Watch: Aidy Bryant Takes a Chance on Herself in “Shrill” Season 2

"Shrill"

Aidy Bryant is “shaking [her] shit up a little” in a new teaser for “Shrill’s” second season. The Hulu comedy’s debut season saw Annie (Bryant), an aspiring journalist, learning to live unapologetically as a fat woman and taking on sizeist bigots online and in her workplace. She’s finally standing up for herself professionally and personally, and from the looks of the teaser, Annie is more confident than ever.

“I’m taking a chance on myself,” she says in the spot. The footage suggests that Annie has quit her job and is looking for a new gig. “I’m trying to be the person that I actually want to be,” she explains. And that doesn’t involve accepting the unpaid internship she’s offered.

Bryant is a cast member on “SNL,” and has received two Emmy nods for her work on the variety show. “Girls” and “The Big Sick” are among her other credits.

“Shrill” is based on Lindy West’s memoir of the same name. The show returns to Hulu January 24. Elizabeth Banks is among its exec producers.
